Is grape juice just as good as wine?
Everyone knows the basic health benefits wine brings. MSNBC explains that wine is good for a person as long as it is part of an overall healthy diet. How do these benefits vary from the benefits of grape juice though? Is there any difference?
Wine benefits
Wine causes your blood to thin and raises your good cholesterol because of the alcohol content, according to MSNBC. Apparently there are chemicals in the wine, not involving the alcohol, that are very good for the body. Tumors were reduced in animals that had wine regularly even. Heart disease is less likely when drinking wine. It can help create a healthy heart. Red wine tends to be better than other wines. This is because the skin on the wine stays on it longer, says MSNBC. Still, with all these benefits, there are also a few problems to consider.
Safety of it all
MSNBC points out that it is not safe for men to have over 2 glasses per day or women to have over one glass per day of wine. Five ounces of wine is considered one glass. Many people who drink wine regularly also end up gaining regular weight. This is because every 5 ounce glass of wine has about 120 calories in it. A bottle usually has about 480 calories total. It can also be unsafe for anyone that regularly gets migraines. It triggers these headaches occasionally. The alcohol content might also increase the chance of breast cancer. Studies have shown this increase. Grape juice might be a great alternative to consider.
Grape juice benefits
Grape juice is much like wine in its benefits. They have almost the same benefits, according to CNN. That means a person can drink grape juice rather than wine for health benefits. The only difference is that there is no alcohol in it. That means the damage that drinking wine has isn’t there for grape juice. The safety is much higher for grape juice. There doesn’t need to be a limit on how much is being drunk.
