When it comes to wine, many want to be critics.  A lot of people prefer to just drink it without have to criticize the flavor of it.  One man in particular, Johnny Depp, prefers not only to drink it, but also to make it.  In fact, he has his own winery now.   Now he doesn’t have to worry about getting wine form anyone else again.

A winery for the girlfriend

Johnny Depp’s girlfriend is Vanessa Paradis.  She was able to get a vineyard as a gift from Johnny Depp.  The gift was given to her in order to celebrate an album she had just released at the time, reports decanter.com.  Since Depp loves wine so much, this will be a good investment.  There were no wine making facilities on it, supposedly, although obviously that changed quickly.  This is obvious considering the huge order of wine Depp requested while on the film set of his movie, Public Enemies.

Getting the drink to make the movie

While filming his movie, Public Enemies, Johnny Depp made sure to have wine around, reports Roberts at In Case You Didn’t Know.  According to Roberts, Johnny Depp hates American wine.  This is why he had 10 crates flown into Illinois during the filming.  This meant a 4,147 mile flight simply for crates of wine.  He actually had the wine flown from his own winery that he owns with his girlfriend Vanessa Paradis.  I guess Johnny Depp needs more than just wine to get a movie done.  One of his favorites is Bordeaux third growth Chateau Calon Segur, according to decanter.com.  Another couple of the favorite wines include Petrus and Chateau Cheval-Blanc.  He needs the fine wine he is used to, not the wine that Americans are used to drinking.  Apparently that American wine is not good enough.   Maybe that’s how he pulls off all those crazy roles.
